Sonoff Pow R3 is the new device designed to work as a single phase WiFi switch and meter for your home.

Its main features are as follows:

• 25A / 5500W max output power : Sonoff Pow R3 can, for example, make your high-power appliances smart, such as an induction hob, or work as a single-phase WiFi energy meter for your whole home
• energy consumption measurement: you can monitor active power, current and voltage absorbed by your appliances through the eWeLink app; a history of up to 100 days is kept with the possibility of downloading in CSV format
• overload protection: in the event of an anomaly detected, the power supply will be interrupted to avoid damage and dangers to the remote switching on and off device: you can manage the power wherever you are, ensuring the safety of your appliances and saving on the electricity bill: Compatibility with Alexa and Google Home you can control the switching on and off even with your voice

Another very important feature is that the output contact is normally closed: this means that in the absence of power supply or device failure, the operation of the loads downstream is in any case guaranteed.

Finally, the device benefits from the new native integration of eWeLink with Home Assistant to allow you to create unified dashboards to view the consumption of the various appliances:

Observing the dimensions of 162 × 122 × 46 mm and the construction features, it is immediately clear how it was designed to handle high loads with installation inside an electrical panel with DIN bar.

In particular, observing the connection terminals of the device, it can be seen that they are generously sized to accommodate electrical cables of the necessary section (4 mm2) to support such important loads (25 A):

The wiring diagram for connecting the device is quite basic:

• the smart device must absolutely downstream of the RCD to ensure safety
• For the managed load, connection cables of sufficient section must be used since these are important loads and appliances
