The Tuya Zigbee LED Stair Lighting Controller Kit turns on the steps one after the other when you set foot on the first. Two PIR sensors , one at the bottom and one at the top, detect your passage; the twilight sensor makes the stairs work only in the dark, if you want. The box contains everything: controller, RF remote control, sensors with brackets, cables and the main line that brings power to each step without a separate cable for each strip. The 12 or 24 V single-color LED strips and the power supply are purchased separately. The controller supports 25 A , or 600 W at 24 V. With a Tuya Zigbee gateway , sold separately, access the Tuya Smart app: brightness, scenes, schedules and voice commands with Alexa and Google. From the remote control, you can turn on and adjust without a phone. The switch-off delay can be chosen from twelve times , from 20 seconds to 5 minutes.
Tuya Smart App: Brightness, Scenes, Schedules, and Voice Commands
With a Tuya Zigbee gateway at home, the controller appears in the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. You can adjust the brightness from 1 to 100% , choose a ready-made scene like Good Night, Reading, Working, or Leisure, or create your own. In the settings section, you'll find the schedule , Do Not Disturb for sleeping hours, the default light when you turn on, and the gradual fading . Voice commands also come through the app: ask Alexa or Google Assistant to turn the stairs on or off. Without a gateway, the kit still works, with sensors and a remote control.
What's in the kit and how does it connect to the ladder?
The layout is simple: the power supply enters the controller, the main line exits and runs up the stairs, and at each step a terminal powers its own strip. Sensor A goes on the bottom step, sensor B on the top step. The cables are 1 meter long , with a 5-meter extension for long stairs. The twilight sensor is mounted near the stairs, where it sees daylight. The box also includes the remote control, brackets for the PIR sensors, screws, wall plugs, and a screwdriver. Below are the strips and the power supply we usually pair.
Four buttons: delay, Zigbee, remote control and twilight
The controller features input and output screw terminals and four buttons. Time Delay determines how long the staircase will turn off: twelve times, from 20 seconds to 5 minutes, and the indicator light shows which one is active. Zigbee Set initiates pairing with the gateway. Wireless Sensor is used to pair the remote control. CDS ON/OFF determines whether the sensors work only at night or also during the day. Four indicators indicate delay, PIR sensor, twilight sensor, and Zigbee signal, so you can quickly see what's happening.
RF remote control included: one-touch pairing
The RF remote control has three buttons: brightness up, brightness down, and power. Keep it in your pocket or on your keychain and control the staircase even without a phone or gateway. To pair it, press the Wireless Sensor button on the controller and the power button on the remote simultaneously: the RF light will flash three times and you're ready to go. To delete it, press the button again until the light flashes seven times. The remote control adjusts the light to a steady state; automations with sensors continue to operate automatically.
Where to use it: stairs, corridors and passages in the house
The stairway at home is the perfect place: the steps light up as you walk and turn off automatically, eliminating the need to search for the light switch at night. It also works in hallways and passageways, where PIR sensors turn the lights on when needed. The warm-light single-color strips provide a discreet guide, while the cold-light strips create a more modern effect. The twilight sensor prevents unnecessary switching during the day; with CDS OFF, the stairway works even in a windowless space. For a second stairway or another hallway, a second kit is required.
Main line: fewer cables, up to 99 steps
In traditional kits, each strip has its own cable leading to the controller: a bundle of wires that's difficult to hide. Here, there's a main line that runs up the stairs and leaves a terminal at each step: in the box, you'll find one with 16 terminals , and the system extends up to 99 steps . The twilight sensor has seven thresholds, from 5 to 150 lux : press its button and choose how dark it needs to be for the stairs to turn on when someone walks by. So, during the day, it stays off and in the evening, it works independently.
Strip Connection and Kit Specifications
The strips connect to the line terminals with a snap connector: prepare the strip, insert the cable into the correct hole and close it with pliers. Respect the polarity, red positive and black negative, otherwise the strip will not turn on. In short: 12-24 V input, up to 25 A, 300 W at 12 V and 600 W at 24 V, single-color strips. Zigbee 3.0 with separate gateway, RF remote control, two 14 mm PIR sensors, seven-threshold twilight sensor, twelve delays. 110 x 58 mm controller in ABS, CE, RoHS and UKCA certified.
