The Tuya Zigbee dimmer module is installed in the flush-mounted box behind the switch and makes the lights you already have dimmable. You can choose the 1-channel version, for a line of up to 150 W, or the 2-channel one, which controls two independent lines of up to 2 × 100 W with a single module. Brightness can be smoothly adjusted from 0 to 100% with the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, and from the wall switch, which remains connected. The module communicates via Zigbee 3.0 and requires a Tuya Zigbee gateway, sold separately. A neutral wire is needed in the box and it only works with dimmable bulbs, LED or incandescent.
Zigbee 3.0 connection via Tuya Gateway, without occupying your home Wi-Fi
The module uses the Zigbee 3.0 protocol (IEEE 802.15.4, 2.405-2.480 GHz): it doesn't connect directly to the router, but to a Tuya Zigbee gateway, which acts as a bridge to the app and to the internet. Without a gateway the module cannot be configured, so if you don't already have one it needs to be purchased along with it. You can use, for example, the multi-mode Wi-Fi gateway with Zigbee, Bluetooth and IR or the wired version with Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth; the other models are in the hubs and gateways category. The advantage is that the module doesn't take up an address on the home Wi-Fi network. The manufacturer states a range of up to 100 m; at home, between walls and floors, the usable distance is lower, so it's best to keep the gateway in a central position.
Continuous Adjustment from 0 to 100% with the Wall Switch Always On
Brightness doesn't work in steps: you choose it continuously from 0 to 100%, by dragging the slider in the app or by asking the voice assistant. The module has an input for the wall switch (S1, plus S2 in the 2-channel version), so the traditional control remains in use and works alongside the app: turn on from the switch and turn off from the phone, or vice versa, without one excluding the other. There are three wiring diagrams provided: with a single switch, with two two-way switches to control the same light from two points, and without a switch, when you want to control the light only from the app and by voice. Timer, Schedules and Scenes from the Tuya Smart or Smart Life App
From the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app you can set timers and scheduled times: the lights turn on, turn off, or change brightness at the time you decide, even when you're away from home. This is useful for simulating presence during vacations, for turning off at a set time lights that are often left on, or for having dimmer light in the evening. The module also fits into the app's scenes and automations along with other Tuya devices: for example, turning on the hallway at 30% when a motion sensor detects movement. For timers and automations, the gateway must remain powered on and connected to the network.
Voice Commands with Amazon Alexa and Google Home via the Tuya Account
By linking your Tuya Smart or Smart Life account to Amazon Alexa or Google Home, you can turn lights on, off, and adjust them with your voice, for example «Alexa, set the living room light to 40%». In the 2-channel version, the two lines are adjusted independently, and you can control them one at a time or together. The connection with the assistants goes through the Tuya cloud, so the gateway's internet connection is required. The module is not compatible with Apple Home (HomeKit), as it is not a certified HomeKit or Matter device: if you use an iPhone, you control it from the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
State After a Blackout: Light Off, On, or as Before
You can decide how the module behaves when power returns after an outage: the light stays off, turns on, or returns to the state it was in before the blackout. The setting is chosen from the app. The "off" state prevents the lights from turning on by themselves after a voltage drop while you're away from home or at night; the "as before" state is handy for lights you want to find exactly as you left them, for example in a shop or an office.

The module measures 39.2 × 39.2 × 18 mm and fits inside the flush-mounted box, behind the switch you already use, without external cable channels. The casing is made of self-extinguishing polycarbonate (V0) with IP20 protection rating: it is designed for indoor use, with an operating temperature between -10 and 40 °C and humidity up to 90%. The power supply is 100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, with live and neutral wires in the box: without neutral the module cannot be powered, and if only the live wire reaches the switch box, the neutral must be brought in before installation. The connection to the electrical grid must be made with the power switched off, by a qualified person or an electrician.
Compatible Bulbs: Only Dimmable LED or Incandescent, up to 150 W or 2 × 100 W
The module only regulates dimmable bulbs: LEDs with the wording "dimmable" on the packaging, or incandescent bulbs. Non-dimmable LEDs should not be connected, because the dimming won't work correctly. At 230 V, the load limits are 150 W for the 1-channel version and 100 W per channel (2 × 100 W) for the 2-channel version; at 120 V these drop to 80 W and 2 × 60 W. The module's rated current is 10 A, but for the bulbs the limit to respect is the power indicated above: add up the watts of the bulbs connected to each channel and stay below the maximum, with a bit of margin.
Group and Scene Control with Other Tuya Zigbee Devices
Several dimmer modules can be grouped together in the app into a group, so you can turn on or adjust the lights of a room or an entire floor together with a single touch or a single voice command. The group is useful, for example, for the lights of an open space divided across multiple lines, or to turn everything off when you leave the house. The module also works with other Tuya Zigbee devices connected to the same gateway, such as sensors and buttons, through the app's scenes and automations. Is a gateway needed to use the module?
Yes. The module is Zigbee 3.0 and connects to the app only via a Zigbee Tuya gateway, sold separately. Without a gateway it cannot be configured.
Does it work with a Zigbee gateway from another brand?
The module is designed for Tuya Zigbee gateways. With hubs from other brands, such as Sonoff or Aqara, operation is not guaranteed. With Home Assistant, it can be used via a Zigbee dongle (ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT).
What is the difference between the 1-channel version and the 2-channel version?
The 1-channel version controls a single line of lights up to 150 W at 230 V. The 2-channel version controls two independent lines up to 100 W each, with two outputs (L1, L2) and two inputs for the switches (S1, S2). Dimensions and power supply are the same.
Can I use non-dimmable LED bulbs?
No. The module only works with dimmable, LED or incandescent bulbs. Check the "dimmable" label on the bulb packaging before connecting it.
Do you need the neutral wire?
Yes. The module is powered with live and neutral at 100-240 V AC. If the neutral wire is not present in the switch box, it must be run there before installation.
Can I continue to use the wall switch?
Yes. The switch connects to the S1 input (and S2 in the 2-channel version) and works together with the app and voice commands. The supported wiring schemes are single switch, two two-way switches, or no switch.
Does it work with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home?
Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, by linking the Tuya Smart or Smart Life account. It is not compatible with Apple Home (HomeKit), because it is not HomeKit or Matter certified.
What happens after a blackout?
