Tuya V5 Series Access Control: Open the door with your face, palm, or card
The Tuya V5 Series access control opens your door in six ways: face, palm , fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, and phone app. A front-facing camera recognizes your face and palm without you having to touch anything, even when your hands are full. You can choose between two versions, identical in all other respects: with a fingerprint sensor or with a doorbell button instead of a sensor. The IP67-rated zinc alloy body is mounted outside next to the door, pedestrian gate, or office entrance. It connects via Wi-Fi to the Tuya Smart and Smart Life apps, allowing you to manage users and openings even when you're away from home. It can operate independently, controlling the electromagnetic lock with its relay, or as a Wiegand reader for an existing control panel. The power supply and lock are purchased separately.
Six ways to enter: face, palm, fingerprint, PIN, card and app
Each person uses their preferred method, and the same user can have more than one. The PIN code is 4-6 digits long, on the backlit touch keypad. RFID cards and tags are read by holding them within a few centimeters: the reader accepts both 125 kHz EM cards and 13.56 MHz Mifare cards . Open from your phone with the Tuya app , even when you're away. For more sensitive access, you can request a combination , for example, card plus PIN. Between card and PIN, it manages up to 4,987 users, plus 100 faces and 100 palms. In the fingerprint version, up to 500 fingerprints can be added.
Tuya Smart App: Open remotely and manage users from your phone
With Wi-Fi, access control is available in the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app on iPhone and Android. From there, you can open the door remotely, even over 4G or 5G, and add or delete users without using the keypad. You can assign each user a time slot , for example, only on weekdays. For guests and technicians, you can create a temporary password , valid only once or for a specific period. In the access log, you can see who entered and when, and if necessary, you can leave the door permanently open. Below, you'll find the power supply, lock, and door contact that complete the system.
3D facial recognition: 100 faces, without touching the keyboard
The front-facing camera recognizes your face in three dimensions: you stop in front of the reader and the door opens. There's no need to take out your phone or look for your card, and you don't have to touch anything. It's convenient when you arrive with shopping bags, a child in your arms, or wearing work gloves. Up to 100 faces can be registered, enough for a family, a studio, or a small office. For larger facilities, faces are added to cards and PINs, which can reach almost five thousand users. Facial recognition works the same on both versions.
Palm recognition: the open hand in front of the camera
The second contactless method is palm scanning: you hold your open hand up to the camera and the reader recognizes it. Up to 100 palm scans can be registered, separated by 100 faces. Palm scanning is convenient for those who prefer not to pose for the camera. Like face scanning, it doesn't require touching the keyboard or having a card or phone with you. In the doorbell version, face and palm scanning are the two contactless methods; in the fingerprint version, a finger is added. Palm scanning is also available on both fingerprint and doorbell versions.
IP67 and Zinc Alloy: Made to be outdoors, in the rain
The body is made of zinc alloy , a sturdy metal that resists impacts and forced entry. Its IP67 rating makes it suitable for outdoor use: rain, splashes, and dust are kept out. It operates from -20 to 60°C, so it can withstand winter temperatures and direct sunlight in summer. Inside, there's a tamper-proof light sensor that signals if anyone tries to open or remove the reader. The alarm output connects to a siren or the burglar alarm control panel. The reader is surface-mounted, next to a door, pedestrian gate, or warehouse entrance.
Palm even with dirty hands, for the elderly and children
Fingerprints sometimes don't work: with age, fingerprints wear out, and children's fingerprints are still small. For them, there's palm recognition , which doesn't depend on the ridges on the fingers. It works even with dirty palms , such as after working in the garden or workshop, as the image shows. So in a family, everyone has their own method: their face for those who enter with their hands full, their palm for grandparents and children. Those who prefer can use their card or PIN, and the app remains for remote openings. No one is left out because a method doesn't recognize them.
Capacitive fingerprint sensor in the fingerprint version
The fingerprint version has a capacitive sensor under the keypad, replacing the doorbell button. Simply place your finger on the sensor and the door opens instantly. It registers up to 500 fingerprints , in addition to faces, palms, cards, and PINs. If you need a doorbell at the entrance, choose the doorbell version: the button rings and the app notifies you on your phone. The fingerprint version also features a doorbell, as a button on the keypad. Everything else is identical: face, palm, card, PIN, app, IP67, and connections.

It is powered by 12-18 V DC and consumes less than 250 mA in operation. The NO, NC and COM relay controls the lock, with an opening time of 0 to 99 seconds. There are inputs for the exit button and the door contact , the alarm output and two wires for an external bell . Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need a hub or a gateway?
No. It connects directly to your Wi-Fi router and appears in the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Without Wi-Fi, it still works on its own, with face, palm, card, and PIN.
What card can I use?
Both EM cards and tags at 125 kHz and Mifare cards at 13.56 MHz. The reader reads them by bringing them within a few centimetres.
What is the difference between the two versions?
One has a fingerprint sensor, up to 500 fingerprints; the other has a doorbell button in its place. Face, palm, card, PIN, app, and IP67 are the same.
Is the lock included?
No. Access control controls an electric lock with its relay: the electromagnet or electric strike, with their power supply, are purchased separately.
Can it be mounted outside?
Yes. It's IP67 rated, made of vandal-proof zinc alloy, and works from -20 to 60°C. It mounts on the surface next to the door or gate.
How many people can I register?

Can I give temporary access?
Yes. From the app you can create a password that's valid only once or for a certain period of time, and you can limit each user to a specific time slot.
Does this work with a control panel I already have?
Yes. In Wiegand reader mode it sends the code to the existing control unit, from 26 to 44 bits and, with Mifare cards, also 56 and 58 bits.
If there is a power outage, will the door open?
It depends on the lock. With a fail-safe electromagnet, the door opens; with a fail-secure strike, it stays closed. Choose the lock based on what needs to happen in a power outage.
