The E2GS is the wall-mounted casing of the Sonoff Fusion series for two-button switches . It should be said right away, because it is the first thing that generates misunderstandings: it is not a smart device . It is the shell that is visible on the wall, and by itself it does not turn on anything. The part that controls the lights is a MINI flush-mounted module , which is purchased separately. The logic of the Fusion series is all here: the electronics are at the bottom of the flush-mounted box , the plate remains thin and neutral in front. The practical advantage is that the smart part can be replaced without redoing the finish, and the plate remains the same even when changing protocol. The Fusion series addresses this problem by placing the module at the back of the box and leaving a 21 mm plate in front. The assembly fits where a traditional smart switch struggles, and the wiring is done on the module instead of on the back of the plate. This is why this series is often used in renovations , where existing boxes are not replaced.

The E2GS casing houses three two-channel flush-mounted modules from the Fusion series: MINI-2GS in Wi-Fi with Matter support , MINI-ZB2GS in Zigbee with compatible gateway and MINI-ZB2GS-L in the Zigbee version without neutral . The choice depends on what you already have at home and what is in the box: if the neutral does not reach the switch, the only option is the MINI-ZB2GS-L . With the MINI-2GS and MINI-ZB2GS , the neutral wire is required in the box: this is the classic configuration, and should be verified by looking at the wires before ordering. With the MINI-ZB2GS-L , the neutral wire is not required because the module works on the phase only: this is the solution for older systems, where only two wires reach the switch. In both cases, the mains voltage is 110-240 V. If in doubt, have an electrician open the box before choosing the module.
Five-Step Installation on 86 × 86 mm or Ø60 mm Round Box
Installation is done in five steps on the same box: remove the existing plate, loosen the module clamps , attach the module to the rear support , tighten the screws after wiring , and secure the casing to the wall. The clip attachment is designed for 86 × 86 mm square and Ø60 mm round boxes, with a 60 mm fixing center distance : for other sizes, the center distance must be measured first. The work is on a mains voltage electrical system and must be performed with the panel disconnected, by an electrician if you are not familiar with it.
