Tuya 12-zone WiFi irrigation control unit with pump, rain sensor, and weather delay
The Tuya WiFi irrigation control unit controls up to 12 zones , a 24 V AC solenoid valve per zone, and manages your garden system from the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Create programs with time, zones, duration, and days, start and stop irrigation from anywhere, and view the weather for the next few days. The rain delay function skips irrigation cycles when it rains; a rain sensor can also be connected to its terminals, as well as a water pump up to 16 A via the internal relay. It connects to your router on a 2.4 or 5 GHz network, is configured via Bluetooth, and responds to Alexa and Google. It is protected against dust and splashes (IP64), and a 24 V AC power supply is included.
Smart Life App: Named and photo-enabled zones, schedules, and remote irrigation
In the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, the control unit has a page with the week's weather, the schedule for the next 24 hours , and a button to water immediately, indicating the remaining time. You can name and photo each zone to easily identify the lawn, flowerbeds, or pots, and see the last and next watering events. The history log records how long each watering lasted and in which zone. You can start or stop the system even when you're away, for example if it's hotter than expected. Notifications alert you of any faults and remain in the app's message center.
Start, pause, and stop irrigation with Alexa and Google
After connecting your Tuya or Smart Life account to the assistant, you can control the control unit with your voice via Amazon Alexa and Google Home . You can ask it to start, pause, or stop watering without opening the app: it's convenient when you're in the garden with your hands full or when you see from the window that the lawn is already wet. The programs, rain delay, and zone durations remain those set in the app. Voice commands require a speaker or a smart screen with the assistant, which is not included. The control unit can still be controlled via the app and the touch panel.
Touch panel with zone LEDs for control even without a phone
On the front of the control unit is a round touch panel : the top button stops irrigation, the bottom button starts or pauses it, and the two side buttons move to the previous or next zone . Around it are the numbered LEDs for the zones. The zone LED stays blue when you select it, slowly turns on and off while watering, and turns red if the solenoid valve has a problem. When all the LEDs flash blue, the control unit is waiting to be configured. This way, you can manually open a zone even without a phone, for example, while checking the sprinklers.
Dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi and quick Bluetooth setup
The control unit connects to your home router on the 5 GHz network , as well as the 2.4 GHz network (802.11 b/g/n/a/n/ac), with a range of 45 m, and does not require a hub. The recommended configuration is via Bluetooth 5.0 : with your phone's Bluetooth turned on, the app automatically finds the control unit and passes it the WiFi data; alternatively, there are EZ and AP modes, with the reset button held down for 6 seconds. In the network settings, you can specify a backup WiFi network : if the primary one doesn't respond, the control unit automatically switches to the other one.
12 solenoid valves at 24 V AC and multiple zones open together within 1.6 A
Each zone has its own terminal for the 24 V AC solenoid valve wire, while the return goes to the common C terminals. The terminals are push-fit: press the lever, insert the wire, and release it. The control unit measures the valve current : it opens multiple zones at once until the total remains within 1.6 A , then the next zone waits for one to finish. How many zones operate at once therefore depends on the power draw of your solenoid valves. If you exceed the limit by opening zones from the panel, the LEDs flash red and blue: close one zone and try again.
Relay output for water pump up to 250V and 16A
To the left of the zone terminals is the switch output for the pump: it is a relay that interrupts the phase of a 230 V pump, up to 250 V and 16 A , with the neutral connected directly to the pump. In the program, activate the pump switch and the pump operates together with the zones, then stops. This is the solution when the water comes from a well, a cistern, or a tank and pressure is needed for the sprinklers. The pump connection is for the 230 V mains: it must be done by an electrician. The pump and solenoid valves are not included.
Rain delay, rain sensor and valve failure warnings
With the weather delay, you can choose to suspend irrigation for 24, 48, or 72 hours; with Smart Weather , irrigation for the next 24 hours automatically stops when the forecast for your area calls for rain or snow. A rain sensor , sold separately, is connected via cable to the blue terminals: in each program, activate the connection to the sensor and irrigation stops when it rains. If a solenoid valve is faulty or disconnected, the app sends a notification with the valve number. Below you will find other irrigation products and Tuya sensors to use with the control unit.
Tuya Smart 2 in 1 Sensor for Rain Detection and Water Presence

Lawn, flowerbeds, vegetable garden, greenhouse and orchard: an area for each area
With 12 independent zones, you can give every part of your garden the water it needs: the front and back lawn , flowerbeds and borders, hedges, vegetable garden , greenhouse, fruit trees, and potted plants with drip irrigation. Each zone has its own duration, so the lawn receives more water than potted plants, and the vegetable garden can have a different schedule than the greenhouse. Name the zones as you like in the app. With method 2, if the power allows, multiple zones water together and the cycle ends sooner. Other control units, programmers, and sensors are in the smart irrigation category.
Sharing with family and scenes with other Tuya devices
From the device page , share the controller with another Smart Life account, or add family members to the app's home: they too can start irrigation and control programs from their phones. Scenes connect it to other Tuya devices. For example, with a humidity sensor: when humidity drops below 31%, the controller starts irrigation. You can do this with the Tuya soil sensor , which measures humidity and temperature where you plant it. Scenes are also used to turn on a zone at a specific time, as a third way to program.
Differences with the 16-zone Tuya controller: pump, rain and zones
The 16-zone Tuya controller has multiple outputs, but lacks a rain sensor or pump connection, and opens one zone at a time. This Pro controller has 12 zones, terminals for the rain sensor and pump relay, and opens multiple zones at once as long as the total current stays within 1.6 A. Both are programmed zone by zone from the app. If the system has more than 12 zones and the water comes from the mains at its pressure, the 16-zone model is fine; if you have a well, cistern, or rain sensor, this one is necessary.
Irrigation modes, programs, installation and specifications
In mode 1, zones 1 to 12 rotate; in mode 2 , zone 1 acts as the main valve and remains open, while zones 2 to 12 rotate. With method 1, the zones cycle one after the other in a single cycle; with method 2, multiple zones cycle together depending on the current. Each program has a time, zones, duration, pump, and rain sensor, and repeats on certain days of the week or on odd or even days. The control unit is wall-mounted with screws, has a magnetic cover, and is IP64 rated; the included power supply is for indoor use. It measures 150 × 149 × 32 mm and operates from -10 to 60 °C.
Yes. The package includes the control unit, the 230 V to 24 V AC 2 A power supply, and the manual. The power supply is for indoor use: it must be plugged into an indoor outlet.
It depends on the current draw of the solenoid valves: the control unit opens more zones as long as the total current remains within 1.6 A, then the others wait their turn.
There's a problem with the solenoid valve in that area: check that it's connected properly and that the wires are in good condition. Alternating red and blue indicates that the current has exceeded 1.6 A.
