Sonoff S-Mate Multi Switch RF Monitors the status of physical switches and buttons

In practice, this component not only allows you to control Sonoff Mini R3 through mechanical switches and buttons, but also allows - via the ITEAD cloud - to control

other Sonoff components present on the home network.

In case of its use (otherwise the Mini R3 can be used alone), Sonoff S-Mate is the first component of the chain to receive the phase (and only the phase, the neutral is not needed) that powers it.

S-MATE Works and must be used with Sonoff MINI R3

S-MATE can connect the normal 1/2/3 button wall switch which acts as a remote control.

After pairing with the MINI R3, the MINI R3 can be controlled locally by S-MATE via the eWeLink-Remote signal.

S-MATE is battery powered, so it does not require a neutral wire in the mounting box.

It is possible to connect the Sonoff Mini R3 in the traditional way and let the S-Mate communicate any activations (intercepted by the mechanical switch or button connected to it)

via radio frequency at 433Mhz (however made more intelligent and called by ITEAD “eWeLink Remote“).

Basically, S-Mate is a radio frequency transmitter and Sonoff Mini R3 a receiver.

To function, the S-Mate does not use the current that eventually flows through it, but rather a 3-volt CR2032 button battery.

Sonoff Mini R3 represents a BRIDGE towards the Internet for the Sonoff S-Mate, which can therefore possibly control other traditional components of the same line.
