Sonoff MINI-ZB1GP: Know How Much Each Appliance in Your Home Consumes, Hour by Hour
The Sonoff MINI-ZB1GP is a small power meter that hides behind an outlet and tells you how much electricity is actually flowing. You plug it in before an appliance and from that moment on, you can see the watts it's drawing, hour by hour, on your phone. It uses Zigbee 3.0 , the network that home devices use together without clogging up your Wi-Fi. You'll therefore need a Sonoff Zigbee hub that acts as a bridge to the eWeLink app. It can handle up to 16 A : you can install a washing machine, an oven, or a heat pump underneath it. It keeps track of the last 180 days and calculates your spending using tiered tariffs. This way, you'll find out which appliance is weighing the most on your bill. If you have panels on your balcony, it also reads the energy you produce, because it measures in both directions. One thing to know right away: it simply measures, it doesn't turn anything on or off.
Inside is a Silicon Labs chip and a self-extinguishing shell, with a two-year warranty.
The heart is a Silicon Labs EFR32MG21 chip, the same one you find in high-end Zigbee devices: it keeps the radio stable even when the module is walled in a flush-mounted box. The body is made of self-extinguishing polycarbonate , the material that does not feed the flame if something goes wrong. These are choices you don't see, but they make a difference after years inside a wall . And it's covered by a two-year warranty . For you, that means only one thing: install it and forget about it.
It Hides Behind the Socket: Just One Retrofit and the Load Becomes Measurable
You don't have to change anything you already have. The MINI-ZB1GP fits into the box behind a wall outlet or an existing appliance, and from there it measures whatever passes through. It's small: 32 × 29 × 15.9 mm . It weighs 14 g , leaving room for the wires. The installation is hidden : once the job is finished, nothing is visible; the socket is the same as before. However, you need a box at least 60 mm deep, otherwise the cover won't fit flush. It's the fastest way to make an existing socket measurable.
It also acts as a Zigbee repeater: it extends the home network up to 250 meters in Turbo mode.
The MINI-ZB1GP is powered by the mains, which allows it to do something battery-powered sensors can't: repeat the Zigbee signal . Each module you install becomes an additional bridge for other devices, and the home network strengthens itself. The usable range to the gateway is up to 180 meters ; with Turbo mode active, it extends up to 250 meters . In a multi-story home, this means the basement sensor will no longer disappear from the app.

How Much You Consume Every Hour, Every Day and Every Month, in Euros and Not Just in Kilowatt Hours
On your phone, you'll find hourly , daily , and monthly consumption graphs, allowing you to instantly see who's eating up your bill. Set your rate and time slots , and the eWeLink app shows you your spending in euros instead of just kilowatt-hours. You can also view your usage history for up to 180 days : compare this month with the same month before and see if the new refrigerator is truly worth it. When you need the data, you can export it and bring it into a spreadsheet. It's the easiest way to stop guessing and start measuring.
Read about photovoltaics too: see how much energy panels produce and how much they send back to the grid.
The MINI-ZB1GP measures both incoming and outgoing electricity. If you have panels on your balcony or a small system, simply place it on the panel line and see how much energy they're producing in real time. In the app, you set production as a negative value, and from that moment on, the graphs distinguish between what you consume and what you generate. This way, you can see how much energy you send back to the grid and how much you actually use at home. It's concrete proof of how much your panels are saving you, month after month.
It alerts you on your phone when your washing machine or dishwasher has finished its cycle.
Set a power threshold and a time, and the MINI-ZB1GP notifies you when the load drops below that value. In practice: the washing machine finishes, the power drops, and your phone alerts you. The adjustable delay prevents loading and unloading pauses, which last just a few seconds, from being mistaken for the end of the cycle. So you hang out your laundry when it's ready, not an hour later, and the notification arrives wherever you are. It works with any appliance that has a cycle: dishwasher , dryer , bread maker.
Counts your working hours and reminds you when to change the filter or do the service.
Every appliance has maintenance you forget: the purifier filter, the dehumidifier tank, the heat pump service. The MINI-ZB1GP counts the operating hours over a power level you choose, and when you reach the set interval, it sends you a reminder . There's no need to mark anything on the calendar: the meter knows how long the appliance has actually worked. The counter resets after the intervention, and the cycle starts again. It's a small detail that extends the life of everything you have at home.
If Current, Voltage or Power Exceeds Limits, You Receive an Alarm and Can Disconnect the Load
You set the values you consider normal for current , voltage , and power , and if any of these exceed limits, an abnormal consumption alert goes off. A motor that draws more than usual, a boiler that stays on all night, a voltage that drops too low: you can see it on your phone before it becomes a fault. The alarm can also trigger another smart device, such as a relay module that cuts power to the load. The MINI-ZB1GP won't turn anything off on its own, but it knows who to notify.
It also works with Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT and other open source systems.
If you don't want to go through the cloud, the MINI-ZB1GP speaks the Zigbee 3.0 standard and can be integrated with the systems you manage in your home. Home Assistant , Zigbee2MQTT , and other open platforms read it through a Zigbee dongle connected to your server. Consumption data becomes an entity like any other, and you can write automations with the tools you already use. On Home Assistant with ZHA , an extra step, done only once, is required to see all the metrics. This is the option for those who want local graphs.

All the functions of the MINI-ZB1GP at a glance, from measurement to notifications
Here's a summary of what the MINI-ZB1GP can do, without having to reread everything. It measures voltage , current , and power in real time. It keeps track of usage history and calculates bills based on time bands. It sends notifications for thresholds, end-of-cycle, and maintenance. It monitors panel output thanks to two-way measurement. It acts as a repeater for your home's Zigbee network. And it integrates with the eWeLink app or open platforms, depending on how you prefer to manage your home.
MINI-ZB1GP or MINI-ZB1GSP: Measure Only or Measure and Control the Load
The difference between the two models in the series is only one, but it's significant. The MINI-ZB1GP measures: it tells you how much the load consumes and doesn't touch it. The MINI-ZB1GSP measures the same things and also turns it on and off , because it has a relay inside. If you just want to know where the power goes, the GP is enough and costs less. If you also want to control the socket from your phone or with a scene , you need the GSP . The other MINI Zigbee modules in the catalog —dimmers, roller shutters, dry contact—solve different problems and don't measure energy.

How to Connect to Wires: N to Neutral, L to Line and L Out to the Device to Be Measured
The connection is short, but it's an electrician's job, with the power off. The N terminal goes to neutral, L to the incoming line, and L Out to the load you want to measure. It requires a neutral wire: without one, the module won't power. It accepts copper conductors from 0.75 to 2.5 mm² , the ones normally found in home wiring. A 16 A circuit breaker is required upstream, and the line must be single-phase. Before closing, check that the box is deep enough: Sonoff recommends 60 mm .
What You Need to Get It Working: Sonoff Zigbee Hub, eWeLink App, and Four Steps
It doesn't do anything on its own: it needs a Sonoff Zigbee hub to connect it to the network and the eWeLink app on your phone. The gateway is purchased separately and can be found among the Zigbee hubs in the catalog . There are four steps: the electrician connects the wires, power up, open the app and add the device , then you name it with the name of the device it measures. When you turn it on for the first time, it automatically enters the pairing process for three minutes. If you need to start over one day, just hold down the button for ten seconds and it's back as good as new.
