    • 120° and 6-meter coverage: the PIR sensor detects motion within 3 seconds of passing.
    • 5 to 60 seconds cooldown: the minimum interval between two activations is adjustable to avoid constant retriggers and false alarms.
    • Independent light sensor: measures ambient light separately from the PIR, with thresholds set in lux.
    • Light history up to 6 months: logs room illumination changes to fine-tune automations using real data.
    • Does not work on its own: requires a compatible SONOFF Zigbee hub, sold separately; without a hub it will not connect to the eWeLink app.
    • Zigbee 3.0: integrates with a wide range of third-party and open-source platforms, without being locked to a single ecosystem.
    • Apple Home via Matter Bridge: a compatible hub acting as a bridge is required; the sensor alone will not appear in Home.
    • ZHA and SmartThings: currently require a script for recognition, as documented in the SONOFF Help Center.
    • Security scenes: on each intrusion it triggers the alarm on the gateway, sends an app notification, and starts camera recording.
    • Three mounting methods: magnetic, adhesive, or screw mounting, so you can reposition it until you find the right angle.
    • Ceiling mounting: supported with the dedicated housing, which is sold separately.
    • Pet-friendly: as stated by the manufacturer; actual results depend on height and orientation.

Sonoff SenseGuard Motion Gen2 SNZB-03PR2: Zigbee Motion Sensor with Independent Light Sensor

Sonoff SNZB-03PR2 wall mounted light illuminates the passage of a person in the entrance, with the Zigbee logo

The SONOFF SNZB-03PR2 is the second generation of Sonoff's Zigbee motion sensor , the SenseGuard Motion Gen2 series. It is used to make something happen when someone passes by: turn on a light, set off an alarm, start a recording. Compared to a classic PIR sensor, it adds two things that change the result. The first is the cooldown adjustable from 5 to 60 seconds , that is, the minimum interval between two activations: it is the parameter that prevents the light from flashing all evening in a corridor. The second is an independent light sensor , which measures the ambient light on its own and allows automations that only trigger in the dark , with thresholds in lux and a history of up to 6 months . It covers 120° up to 6 meters and detects motion within 3 seconds . It is battery- powered and requires a compatible SONOFF Zigbee hub : it does not work alone.

Six Functions in One Sensor: PIR, Light, Cooldown, Zigbee 3.0 and Security Scenes

The grid summarizes the sensor at a glance: PIR motion detection , customizable cooldown , light sensor with history recording, up to 3 years of battery life , Zigbee 3.0 protocol and automatic security scenes . Coverage is 120° over a 6-meter radius.

SNZB-03PR2 features: PIR detection, customizable cooldown, light sensor, 3-year battery and Zigbee 3.0

3-Second Motion Detection with Adjustable Cooldown from 5 to 60 Seconds

The device detects motion within 3 seconds . The interval between two activations is adjustable from 5 to 60 seconds : this parameter determines how often the sensor can trigger an automation . Raising it prevents false alarms and continuous reactivations in areas where there is frequent traffic. Lowering it ensures a quicker response where reactivity is needed. It's the difference between a light that turns on when needed and one that flashes all night.

Motion detection up to 6 meters with a 120° angle and duration settable from the app

Independent Light Sensor with Lux Thresholds and Lighting History for up to 6 Months

The light sensor is independent of the PIR : it measures the ambient light on its own. Accuracy has improved compared to the previous generation, with calibration and historical recording of light variations in the home. The conditions are set in lux and the history reaches 6 months . This is ideal for nighttime lighting : the light turns on when someone passes by only when the room is truly dark.

Independent light sensor measures 500, 100 and 40 lux with history in the app

Gateway Alarm, App Notification and Camera Recording on Every Intrusion

When the sensor detects an intrusion , it immediately activates a chain of security scenes : it sounds the alarm on the gateway , sends a notification to the app , and starts recording a Sonoff camera . The three actions are configured only once and then work together. This is the case in which the cooldown should be kept low: at night, in an empty room, every movement counts. You need a compatible Zigbee hub and devices already on the network.

Security scenario: Intrusion detected triggers alarm, notification and camera recording

Magnet, Double-Sided or Screw Installation, with Optional Ceiling Mount

The sensor can be mounted in three ways: magnetic , double-sided adhesive , or screw-on . The magnet is convenient for repositioning it until you find the right angle; the screw is for where it needs to stay in place. It is pet-friendly . For ceiling mounting, you need a dedicated housing , which is purchased separately. Positioning matters more than anything else: pointing it along the hallway provides much better coverage than pointing it at a door.

Four ways to install the SNZB-03PR2: floor standing, magnet or screw, pet proof, ceiling mounted

Voice Control Sensor Status with Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings

You can ask the sensor's status by voice . Once connected to the Zigbee hub , the SNZB-03PR2 becomes visible to voice assistants: it works with Amazon Alexa , Google Home and SmartThings . It's used to know if there has been movement in a room without opening the app—useful when you leave the house and want a quick confirmation, or when you return. The sensor remains a battery-powered Zigbee device : the hub exposes it to the assistant, not the sensor that connects on its own.

The sensor works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings for voice control

Works with Apple Home via Matter Bridge and a compatible Zigbee hub

The sensor enters the Apple Home ecosystem through a Matter Bridge : this is the bridge that brings SONOFF Zigbee devices into Apple Home and allows them to be used in scenes and automations alongside the rest of the system. A compatible Matter hub therefore needs to act as a bridge: the sensor alone does not appear in Apple Home.

Integrates with Open Source Platforms Based on the Zigbee 3.0 Standard

Based on the Zigbee 3.0 standard, the SNZB-03PR2 connects to a wide range of third-party and open-source platforms. This is why a standard sensor is better than a proprietary one: it remains usable even when switching control systems. Available integrations depend on the platform and version, so it's worth checking before building critical automation on top of it.

Compatibility with Sonoff, ZHA and SmartThings Zigbee Hubs

The sensor works with compatible SONOFF Zigbee hubs , the most direct way to connect it to the network. On ZHA and SmartThings, recognition requires a script : it's an extra step, only needed once. We mention this here and not at the bottom because it changes the installation time: if you already use a hub on those two platforms, take this into account before ordering.

Compatible Zigbee Hubs: eWeLink , ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT, Alexa and SmartThings

Four Steps to Get It Working with eWeLink App

Setup is four steps : download the eWeLink app , scan the QR code , connect the sensor to the Zigbee hub and use it in automations . No wiring or power is required: the sensor is battery-powered . Actual time depends on how well your home Zigbee network is already configured.

Four steps to use: download the app, scan the QR code, select the Zigbee hub, wait for pairing

    * Requires a compatible SONOFF Zigbee hub , sold separately.
